BERGEN COUNTY, N.J. (SEPTEMBER 1, 2010) – The pup-parazzi will be snapping away when America’s most pet-friendly bank, TD Bank, hosts the 3rd Annual Carnivale of the Dogs to benefit Companion Animal Advocates, a non-profit organization that provides programs to those in need to help them feed their pets. The free festival for dog lovers and their canine companions takes place on Sunday, October 10th at the Wild Duck Pond, 1133 E. Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood, N.J., from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The event will take place rain or shine and includes the 3rd annual Delaney Dog Show. Attendees are encouraged to bring a donation of a bag or can of cat or dog food to aid underserved pet owners.

The festival is open to the public and will feature unique activities and treats for pets and their owners. The family-friendly day will be filled with music, giveaways, free food, and service providers including a pet psychic, photographer, caricaturist, veterinarian, animal rescue groups, dog trainers, boarding services and doggie beauty salon. Guests will also have the chance to adopt a dog and learn health and training tips from behavioral specialists.

At 2:00 p.m. dogs will compete in the 3rd Annual Delaney Dog Show to win ribbons and fun prizes in various categories such as best trick, best kisser and best costume. The show is in memory of Bill Delaney, founder of the American Canine Academy.

As part of the fundraising effort to benefit Companion Animal Advocates, participants may vie to have their dog crowned Carnivale King or Queen by creating their own fund raising page on www.firstgiving.com/companionanimaladvocates and clicking on the link “Want to Raise Money?.” Once the page is created, participants may invite family and friends to donate on behalf of their dog with a minimum donation of ten dollars. The dog that raises the most money as of midnight on October 9th will be crowned at the Carnivale.

Aside from obvious bragging rights, the canine king or queen will kick off opening ceremonies at 11:00 a.m. and get priority visits to the Snazzy Salon as well as a pet photographer, caricaturist and pet psychic. The winner will also receive a $150 TD Bank Gift Card. The 2nd- and 3rd-place winners—known as members of the royal court—will each receive a $50 TD Bank Gift Card.
